Cecilia Escamilla-Greenwald is a graduate of the University of California Davis, with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology (Law & Society), a graduate of the prestigious Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs and holds certificates in Human Resource Management and Labor Relations from the University of California, Davis School of Continuing and Professional Education.
Furthermore, Cecilia is an experienced mediator, nonprofit and public sector leader with an extensive background in human resources, employee and labor relations, community organizing, and program management. She has over 15 years working across education, government, and grassroots sectors to advance equity and social justice. As a Labor, Human Resources Employee Relations Specialist she further has experience reviewing budgets and negotiating memorandums of understanding,
Cecilia’s years in public service include advocating for public education, English language learners, students with special needs and educational opportunities for all children. Cecilia currently serves as an elected Trustee on the Davis School Board, Area 5. As a woman of color, and a foster/adopt parent leader of three diverse children she believes that access to a quality education should be available to all students in Pre-K to 12th grade and beyond.
Cecilia has served as chair and vice chair on several community and educational boards for the city of Davis, including the Police Accountability Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Human Relations Commission. As an advocate for preschool aged children, she also chaired the Head Start Policy Council.
Cecilia looks forward to working with managers, supervisors, and staff at Umoja.
